Concordia University Special Education Licensure
The Graduate Teacher Certification Program at Concordia University is excited to announce a new program for Special Education Teacher Licensure (#1801). This program will meet the licensure needs for Special Education teachers provisionally licensed or working under a one-year teacher license with stipulations from the Department of Public Instruction. Participants must hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution for eligibility – perhaps current instructional aids may also qualify and benefit from this new program. Our new program has been designed with the working adult learner in mind – courses within the program will be offered in a cohort model featuring an online/blended instructional model. Participants can obtain licensure in this accelerated model in just 24 months - including one semester of student teaching obligations, which can be satisfied while employed. The Special Education program’s curriculum will highlight strategies for co-teaching within inclusive classrooms; cross-categorical focus for grades K – 12 providing support for students, teachers and families; and an academic focus on reading, writing and Mathematics. Please contact us with any questions regarding eligibility and possibilities for Special Education teachers. Dr. Christine Scudella is the Program Coordinator for Teacher Certification at CUW.
